“Fine, I’ll just ask Avarus.” Luke sucked in a deep breath and opened his mouth as if he was about to yell.

Avarus was the last person in the cosmos Tucker wanted to see, so he slapped his hand over Luke’s mouth and glared. “I’ll tell you, okay? You’re not going to like it, though.”

“Why don’t you let me decide? Tell me what Avarus meant and why it freaked you out so much.”

“I didn’t freak out,” Tucker lied.

Luke just arched a disbelieving eyebrow at him and settled back against the headboard, apparently eager to begin story time. “I’ll trade you for it.”

“Oh?” Naughty images of their naked bodies writhing together under the spray of the shower flashed through Tucker’s mind. “What exactly did you have in mind?”

“I’ll get Levi and Archer off your back.”

Not as sexy, but just as appealing. “Deal.” He wasn’t going to have the conversation in the nude, though. If Luke got pissed—and he probably would—Tucker wanted to be ready to run without flashing his twig and berries to the whole neighborhood.

“You going somewhere?”

“Nope.” He pulled his jeans up his hips, though he did leave them unbuttoned. “Just an insurance policy against potential embarrassment.”

“Stop stalling and tell me already.”

How did he even begin? It was a delicate situation that needed to be handled with care and tact. Sure, Luke was accepting of him being a vampire, but that was pretty mild compared to the news Tucker was about to share.

“Well?” Luke crossed his arms over his chest and tilted his head to the side in impatience.

“I’m trying, damn it. This isn’t something you just blurt out.”
